Heart intelligence

by | Dec 18, 2018 | Community resources | 0 comments

Humans are a lot more than our brains. Here are just a few of the organisations that are researching and helping people to enable fuller capabilities.

The HeartMath Institute has pioneered research validating and legitimizing the intelligence of the heart, which is so crucial to the present work. For almost thirty years, the people at HeartMath have been conducting biomedical research into the heart as a center of higher intelligence in human beings and creating tools and trainings that help people to activate it. eir ultimate mission is “to activate the heart of humanity” in its role as caretaker for future generations and the planet. (I worked closely with the HeartMath team in the 1990s and led the team that developed their rst heart rate variability monitor.) Through organizational consulting, trainings, products, and the Global Coherence Initiative, HeartMath’s work has expanded tremendously, reaching people from all walks of life all over the US and the world. Find out more about the HeartMath Institute and their work here: www.heartmath.org

The Pachamama Alliance led by Bill and Lynne Twist, is a dynamic partnership between indigenous Amazonian Achuar people and North Americans dedicated to bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fullling, socially just human presence on our planet. Its superb educational programs help inspire and galvanize a healthy transformation of the consensus trance shaping global culture and industrial civilization. Among the most important are “Awakening the Dreamer,” a powerful transformational educational training program, and “The Gamechanger Intensive,” an online leadership training aiming to shift concern over the state of the world into meaningful effective activism. Find out more about the The Pachamama Alliance and their work here: https://www.pachamama.org

Charles Eisenstein has produced books, blogs, audio recordings, and videos that have inspired thousands of people to attempt to create “the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.” With his heart’s higher intelligence guiding his clear mind, he has also dared to imagine a sacred economics based on a gift economy. His website contains a wealth of resources to help people understand how to embrace and practice empathy and interconnectedness and become more effective agents of social transformation. Find out more about Charles Eisenstein and his work here www.charleseisenstein.net.

ServiceSpace (www.servicespace.org), founded by Nippun Mehta, lever- ages technology for altruism. Run entirely by volunteers, it has become an umbrella for many generosity-driven projects and provides tools for individuals to organize their own local service events. It thus helps ignite fundamental generosity for inner and outer transformation.

The Goi Peace Foundation (www.goipeace.or.jp/en), organized by Masami and Hiroo Saionji, sponsors many far-reaching initiatives, including the Fuji Declaration, the Goi Peace Award, numerous youth education and leadership programs, research studies, and symposia—all to nurture the necessary transformation of global society. It has official status at several U.N. agencies.

About these resources

About these resources

A new republic of the heart is coming into being spontaneously, naturally, sprouting through the “cracks in everything” - cracks through which light gets in to a fragmenting - and paradoxically globalising at the same time - world. Here we list just a few of the...

Transpartisan initiatives

While some attempts at transpartisanship in the USA (such as No Labels) are well known, a wide variety of transpartisan initiatives are advancing on many different fronts. Living Room Conversations (livingroomconversations.org) founded by a lifelong Democrat and a...

Lets gather and share the great, simple, emotionally powerful stories that describe our human journey and call higher human potentials from us. For example, The Great Transitions project was conceived and directed by Duane Elgin (duaneelgin.com) in partnership with...

We are all learning

A core of the New Republic of the Heart is an engagement in the ‘many to many’ transmission. There are multiple individuals and groups that are cascading concepts, explicitly and implicitly, aligned to those described on this site. You’ll find stories, videos, pictures and more on how we’re all developing and being developed here.

How complete are these resources?

This is a very partial list, reflecting our imperfect memories and the limits of my personal experience in privileged USA – the reality it points to is MUCH larger. We are already expanding this online version. And none of them (even our own projects) reflects all the ideals, values and the ultimate vision of “a new republic of the heart.”

What has been included in the resources section?

This only lists initiatives that are consciously attempting to enact cultural transformation. Equally valuable dimensions of a new republic of the heart, however, are the much larger number of efforts that embody the health and wholeness and caring character of human culture—not only the international relief workers, as important as they are, but also local churches and charities and other good works; nurses and doctors and teachers and social workers and firefighters and emergency medical technicians and other first responders; the farmers and technicians; the workers and entrepreneurs; and the countless community builders and leaders who keep re-weaving the social fabric.

Help me understand the scope

When the body (or body politic) is under siege, what restores well-being is not just the immune system, but also the vastly larger number of cells that just keep pumping the blood and lymph and nerve impulses, sustaining life and health. They are not listed here, but I want to acknowledge and appreciate the widest possible spectrum of the broad and ultimately universal emergence of a new republic of the heart.
